Altar Servers

We are a group of 36 enthusiastic young boys and teenagers aged between 9 to 21, who share a common interest of serving the Lord at the altar. We serve at English masses or services. Recreational activities and spiritual retreats are held for the boys during weekends and school holidays. We usually recruit new members at the beginning of the year. If you are interested in joining us or have any enquiries, contact Jeremy at 9792 3067 or Jacob at 9875 1954.

Catechists

Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.” And He put His hands on their heads and blessed them before He left. (Matthew 19:14 – 15)

Catechism classes are offered for students from Kindergarten 2 to Secondary 3. Primary 2 students are prepared for the sacrament of reconciliation while Primary 3 students prepare to receive the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist for the first time. Secondary students go through a 3-year programmed for the sacrament of confirmation.

Children's Liturgy

Our weekend masses cater to an adult congregation and many children cannot understand the scripture readings. Children’s Liturgy of the Word provides an interesting way for them to know and love Jesus through stories, songs and activities. Currently held every first and third Sunday of the school term, the frequency of the sessions can be increased if more volunteers help out.

Parents bring their children (aged 5 to 10) to the St Mary of the Angels Room at 10am before the former attend the 10.30am mass in church. Facilitators lead the children in the liturgy of the Word where the Good News is proclaimed and explained to them. The children then join their parents for the rest of the mass during the offertory.

If you have the time, are creative, love children and want to make their Sunday mass more interesting and meaningful, please contact Bernard or Dolly Teo at 6792 9132 or Annabella Long at 6794 0038.

Divine Mercy

“I wish solemnly to entrust the WORLD to DIVINE MERCY. I do so with the desire that the MESSAGE OF GOD’S MERCIFUL LOVE, proclaimed here through ST FAUSTINA, may be known to ALL THE PEOPLES OF THE EARTH and fill their hearts with HOPE”.
(Pope John Paul II on 17 August 2002)

Our mission is to radiate God’s message of mercy by words, deeds and prayer. We perform devotional prayers for people who petition for prayers and we would like more people to join us. Devotion sessions are held every Friday. All sessions are at 8pm, except the one on the second Friday of the month, which is at 7pm. Lectors

Our group was established in 1975 and our aim is to proclaim the Word of God in the liturgical assembly. This does not merely involve the function of straightforward reading but of proclaiming the Word. A person qualifies to be a lector when he believes, accepts and lives the very mystery that he is called to serve – the Word of God. He must also be able to read well in public.

Lectors should be aware of the dignity of God’s Word, not only when they are reading but also in their posture, movement, gestures and dress. This is because they are in full view as ministers of the Word. To be effective, they must be involved in regular spiritual and reading exercises. If you would like to join us, please contact ~ George: 97272409, Thomas: 98522055

Our members are committed volunteers from the parish who are usually ‘mobilized’ within a few hours’ notice when there is a need for our service. We offer prayers for the deceased and guide and assist the bereaved family when needed. For those who would like to volunteer, this is a very fulfilling mission. Neo-Catechumenal

This is a journey of Christian initiation for adults and a way to renew the parish as a “community of communities”. Every year a series of talks is given, in which the Good News of Salvation is proclaimed. Those who accept the Good News begin a way of faith and conversion in a community and these communities are called neo-catechumenal communities.

RCIA

The RCIA is a learning process for non-Catholics who desire to become Catholics and receive the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, the Holy Eucharist and Confirmation.  Participants come to know more about the teaching of Jesus, the apostles, understanding the Bible and the sacramental living of the universal church and its people.  They also go through several rites during the Sunday masses for a year, until their baptism at the Easter Vigil.

As Vincentians, our desire is to serve the poor and the less fortunate regardless of race or religion. Our 17 members are currently assisting 47 families living around Boon Lay, Taman Jurong, Jurong West and Jurong West Extension. We take the time and effort to listen to them and understand their needs. We assist them to apply for appropriate government assistance such as free legal aid or bursaries. On the first Sunday of each month, we distribute rations and provide monetary assistance for their medical and education needs. We also organize outings and Christmas parties for them. Our members meet every first and third Sunday of the month from
