Among the sacramentals, blessings hold a major place. There are blessings for persons, meals, objects, places and special occasions. All blessings praise God for His gifts. Most blessings invoke the Holy Trinity as expressed in the Sign of the Cross – sometimes accompanied by the sprinkling of holy water. (United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, page 296)

House Blessing is henceforth a ceremony of love and adoration, in which the occupants of a house request the blessings, protection and holy presence of our Lord Jesus into their lives and place of dwelling.
