ALTAR SERVERS

As Altar Servers, we are a group dedicated to assist the priest in serving at the altar during mass. Being a server, we learn about serving God through our actions, gestures and service during mass. Liturgy and Serving training will be conducted for new servers. Only upon passing a test are they allowed to serve. With responsibilities in serving, we tend to grow closer to God and to find meaning in Mass. Meetings are held on the First Sunday of Every Month at 1pm.

ART & DECO TEAM

On occasions like Christmas, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, Lunar New Year, Pentecost and so forth, the church altar and the front entrance are being artistically decorated by this team.

We need people to come up with themes, ideas as well as people who are good at art work and graphics design to come forward to assist in beautifying our church and making it more visually striking for parishioners to appreciate the different occasions and seasons better.  We meet at least 2 months or so before the actual occasion.

Don’t bury your talents or be shy to share them!

For more information, please contact Agnes Fam at 9735 4353 (afamsg@yahoo.com) or Peter Fam at 9679 7374.

LECTORS

The Ministry of readers calls us to be servants of the living word of God.  In proclaiming the readings at Liturgy, the reader does more than simply read.  A reader’s spirituality must include an understanding of Holy Scripture as God’s living word made present to mankind throughout history, but most fully present in the person of Jesus Christ, the word made flesh.

Our meetings are on the 1st Sunday of every month in the St. Joseph’s Room, level 3 at 11.45am. Training is held on Tuesday, 7.45pm in the main church.

For more information, please contact Dominic Chee at 9128 9187 (j1noel@singnet.com.sg)

Or Chito Mataac at 8611 0544 (chito_gyroscope@yahoo.com).

WARDENS

Church wardens serve the worshipping assembly in a variety of ways but can be summed up with the word “Hospitality”. Hospitality at worship is an expression of reverence for the presence of Christ in each member of the assembly.  The church warden is often the first person whom worshippers meet when they arrive at Church. Hence, the Church warden represents the rest of the community in offering hospitality to all those who come to worship.

Duties of wardens basically take place before, during and after the liturgical celebration. There is a generic list of the duties of the church warden but the list is not exhaustive. Different parishes may have their own extra duties entrusted to their own church wardens.  It is important to also note that every church warden is an active member of the worshipping assembly, hence they are also encouraged to participate actively in the liturgical celebration.
